The Rozenberg Dental Day Spa is a unique and special way to rejuvenate your smile and make your appearance more youthful and vibrant
VENEERS (PORCELAIN) AND LAMINATES Porcelain veneers is a thin shell of porcelain, custom made in the laboratory and bonded directly to the tooth structure (front surface of the tooth). The veneers can completely mask unattractive stains while maintaining natural tooth. Porcelain veneers can fix multitude of problems and imperfections in a smile including changing the color of the teeth, making crooked teeth look straight, changing the shape of the teeth, closing gaps or spaces between the teeth, lengthening teeth and widening the back teeth to broaden the smile and correct negative space in the back of the mouth which is seen when a person smiles. When you are making the arch wider it gives greater support to the lips, cheeks and create a fuller, sexier smile.
Veneers can create a more youthful appearance and erase 10 years off your face. They do not stain. Porcelain veneers last from 10 to 20 years and only take two visits to transform your smile.
SMILE LIFT / CORRECTING GUMMY SMILE When a person smiles, sometimes they show not only the teeth but also their gums. When you show too much gum that affects the aesthetics of the smile. We use a laser recontouring and reshape the gum thus increasing the length of the tooth. Sometimes we also use porcelain veneers to cover the teeth that have been reshaped giving the patient beautiful and aesthetic smile. There is no bleeding or recovery period, only an immediate gratifying results.
PORCELAIN INLAYS AND ONLAYS When a tooth has been moderately to extensively destroy by decay, previous drilling or fracture but there is still sufficient enamel remaining, one innovative way it can be restored is with a porcelain inlay or onlay. An inlay is a restoration in which a portion of occlusal (biting) surface is restored.
An onlay will restore the entire biting surface of the tooth. You might need an inlay alone, an onlay alone or a combination inlay/onlay. The porcelain allows an excellent aesthetic result and when bonded into place, it is very strong. It can be used with wonderful results in small to medium to large restorations. It can last 12+ years and be relatively trouble free. It is attached to the tooth by using a bonding procedure. It may be considered a very conservative restoration.
An outside laboratory is involved in the construction of the restoration and this, of course, adds to the cost and time necessary to complete the procedure. There will be a two to three week wait while the inlay or onlay is being made, so the tooth must have a temporary restoration in place during this time.
Disadvantages include cost - they are moderately expensive to very expensive to make and place. They take two appointments to complete and if not adjusted and polished well, can cause wear of the opposing enamel (exactly like a porcelain fused to metal crown). Of course, all our porcelain restorations are adjusted well and polished.
Advantages include the excellent aesthetics, high strength, predicted longevity and conservative preparation (less drilling than a crown).
If the porcelain does chip, it can be repaired. You should not chew ice cubes, "Jaw breakers" and hard candy with these (or any other type) of dental restoration.
For those who want the strongest, longest lasting, conservative restoration that very closely matches a tooth, porcelain is possibly the best choice. All things considered, it is not as expensive as it might appear -cause once it is finished, the tooth, if cared for properly, should not have to be drilled again for years and it does allow the conservation of most of the natural tooth.
Remember, your goal should be to have the dentist drill your teeth as little as possible and as infrequently as possible.
ENAMEL RECONTOURING Most people wish that they had straight, beautifully aligned, white teeth. Unfortunately, most people are not that lucky. When teeth are in very poor alignment - rotated, tilted, crowded, the obvious way to correct the problem is by orthodontics - braces. However, there are situations where it may not be possible or desirable to use braces to straighten teeth. The patient might feel that they are too old (although this is the case!), the cost of the orthodontics may preclude their use, the patient does not want to wear braces, or perhaps there are only a few areas that need attention and full orthodontics is not indicated.
In certain select cases, the appearance of your top and bottom teeth can be slightly or dramatically improved be recontouring the enamel. The four top and four bottom incisors and canines (4) can be routinely altered. Sometimes teeth further back in your mouth can also be cosmetically improved. It is useful when there is slight - moderate overlapping of the front teeth, slight rotation of the front teeth, uneven wear or teeth that do not have biting and incising edges in harmony - an uneven "picket fence" look. This is usually a painless procedure (no local anesthetic is administered). The enamel that is overlapping or poorly shaped is removed, recontoured and polished. Depending upon your individual needs, one or several teeth may require some reshaping. Different amounts of enamel may be removed from different teeth. The teeth do not become more prone to decay and they are not made weaker or "damaged" by the procedure. Many times the recontouring is all that is necessary to significantly improve your appearance. Other times when the poor alignment is more pronounced, it may be done in conjunction with bonding (adding) resin to teeth. What is needed is related to your presenting conditions and what you would like to see changed. The procedure is not taxing for the patient and can often be done in only one appointment. The change is immediate and permanent. It does take an artistic flair on the part of the dentist to see what possibilities for change exist. We need to know what enamel needs to be removed, where we must add material and where orthodontics is the treatment of choice. The fees are reasonable and determined on a case-by-case basis.
PROPHY POWER A gentle polishing and flossing with your choice of many flavors including mint, cherry, strawberry and orange. An ultrasonic water device is used to cleanse, remove debris, gently massage, and stimulate blood circulation in hard-to-reach areas.
BLEACHING The least damaging and most conservative way of making your teeth whiter is by bleaching. Contrary to what you might think, brushing your teeth harder with more abrasive toothpaste will not make your teeth whiter but rather may them turn darker faster.
The intrinsic color of your teeth (your normal tooth color) is related to the color and thickness of the enamel, dentin and the types of foods and liquids you ingest. The thinner the enamel the darker your teeth. The more coffee, tea, cola beverages and red wine you drink the darker your teeth will become. The bleaching works very well in removing age related darkening of your teeth. Your teeth will not become weaker and no drilling or anesthesia is required. Because the mineralization of teeth varies so much from person to person, there is no way to determine how many office visits it will take to achieve a satisfactory color change. The darker your teeth are the more time required for a color change. The color change should last for several years.
The possible side effects include that teeth may become slightly sensitive to temperature changes for a short period of time and it goes away.
